JWV member Irv Justman’s ode to fellow veterans
In Honor of America’s Veterans
On this day, is solemnly observed
A time to honor all who served.
Soldiers, sailors, fliers, marines,
Mostly hardly past their teens..
Recent wars and wars long past,
Once reported, now telecast.
Battles here and ‘round the world.
Flags half-mast and flags unfurled.
Those who returned from wartime missions,
Survived by making split-second decisions.
Now, having served abroad world-wide,
Let all unstintingly show our pride.
