SAN DIEGO — The dedication of Louis Rose Point on March 24, 2011–the 204th birthday of the pioneer Jewish settler– was captured on videotape by Edward Zeiden, who donated his work to the Louis Rose Society for the Preservation of Jewish History. Following is that videotape, beginning with an introduction by Norman Greene, president of the Louis Rose Society, and a flag salute led by students of Cabrillo Elementary School.  Other speakers included former San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy, Councilman Kevin Faulconer,  Greg Murphy speaking for the  county government, Steve Morris representing the Jewish Federation of San Diego County, Germany’s Honorary  Consul Stephan Hollmann, Rose biographer Donald H. Harrison, Cabrillo principal Nestor Suarez, and Rabbi Leonard Rosenthal. The  ceremony  ended with students from Cabrillo Elementary School planting twin rose bushes under the guidance of Bill Tall of City Farmers Nursery. The twin rose bushes symbolize the sister-school relationship between Cabrillo Elementary School and the Grundschule of Neuhaus-an-der-Oste, Germany, which was Louis Rose’s home town.
