City of Hope to honor Sherry Berman Ahern

SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — The Gussie K. Singer Chapter for City of Hope  will honor Sherry Berman Ahern with the prestigious “Mother of the Year” award at its  annual luncheon May 24, 2012 at the San Diego Bayfront Hilton. “Sherry’s passion for finding a cure for diabetes compliments the major milestones and current research taking place at City of Hope and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this award,” said Robyn Hima,  San Diego regional development director for City of Hope.  “Proceeds from this luncheon will benefit the diabetes research and treatment programs at City of Hope in Sherry’s honor.”

As part of the mission to improve the lives of people everywhere battling cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, City of Hope shares its biomedical advances with researchers, doctors and patients locally in the San Diego county, as well as nationally and internationally, Hima said.  “City of Hope participates in more than 800 collaborative projects with more than 200 institutions in 46 states and countries around the world.  Their collaborations have produced important medical breakthroughs for patients worldwide battling cancer, diabetes and other serious illnesses.  With a history of $.82 – $.85 of every dollar donated going toward education, treatment and research programs,  supporters of City of Hope know their donated dollars will be well invested.”
