Jews for Judaism sponsors student photo contest

LOS ANGELES (Press Release) — Jews for Judaism – an international organization dedicated to protecting and preserving Jewish identity via specialized education and counseling programs that counteract deceptive proselytizing – has launched its second Online Jewish Student’s photo contest though it’s Be-True Student Leadership Initiative. Be-True was established in 2008, with support from the Los Angeles Jewish Community Foundation and Jewish Venture Philanthropy Fund.

The goal of Be-True is to empower students with skills and information to make critical choices because, if you are a student, “there is an 85% chance someone will try to convert you or use pressure to influence your life choices.”

This year’s contest theme is “Expressions of Judaism.” Jews for Judaism is looking for original and unique photos that show how Judaism is expressed in the day-to-day, public or professional lives of Jewish middle school, high school and college students. Students are encouraged to enlist their friends to vote as often as they wish, online at www.Be-True.org.

Students living anywhere in the world can submit photos along with brief descriptions connecting them to the “Expressions of Judaism” theme. An easy to use entry form and instructions are also on the Be.True.org website.

According to Rabbi Zalman Kravitz, Education Director at Jews for Judaism International, “we want to give Jewish students a reason to examine what is important about their Judaism at home and in the world around them – and enable them to “go viral” sharing their expressions with other Jewish students via our Be-True website and safe social media sites.”

This is a great way to connect with Jewish students all over the world and win. The First Prize winner will receive $500 or a prize of equal value; second and third place winners receive $250 and $180 respectively.

Jews for Judaism and Be-True Student are endorsed by the BJE, and Jewish Schools and rabbis of all denominations.

Entry deadline is June 7th. To participate, visit www.Be-True.org.
