‘Swingers’ raise $150,000 for Seacrest Village

ENCINITAS, California (Press Release)–Guardians of San Diego, led by planning committee co-chairs James Haimsohn and John Kassar raised over $150,000 for Seacrest Village Retirement Communities at the 21st Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament “Take a Swing for Seacrest” held July 16 at the exclusive Del Mar Country Club.

Guardians of San Diego hosted over 115 golfers and tennis players at Monday’s event presented by The William Gumpert Foundation. The golf tournament began at noon with a shotgun start on the beautiful course designed by American golf architect, Joseph Lee. Tennis players competed in round robin play on six tennis courts identical in surface and color to the courts used at the US Open. On the course, golfers quenched their thirst with ice cold beverages including beer donated by Stone Brewery. All players enjoyed a special treat at Hole #10 with gourmet burgers and sides from the InSlider food truck.

The all-day event also included a silent auction, lunch on the course, dinner buffet and sold-out raffle in Del Mar’s private Club House. The top auction item was Golf for Three at The Bridges with Seacrest Foundation Board member, Gary Levine, and other auction items included golf at The Grand Del Mar, San Diego Country Club, The Crosby, Maderas, The Farms and Sycuan Casino along with vacation and adventure packages, jewelry, spa packages, personal training sessions and much more.

Tournament winners include Doug Moul, Sanford Sugar, James Posey and Paul Hynes for men’s golf, Jayson Bartlett, Matt DeSmit, Maria Chan and Lindy Mamer for mixed foursome and Brad Blose and Steve Kavy for tennis. Contest winners are Evelyn Orley for Longest Drive, James Posey for Closest to the Pin and Jerry Klusky for Putting Contest. Jared Sanderson won the second-prize drawing taking home an iPad, while Laura Hopper of Orange County claimed the grand prize scooter.

This year’s committee was led by co-chairs and cousins, James Haimsohn and John Kassar and included members Earl Altshuler, Brad Blose, Lawrence Chapman, Devin Chodorow, Mary Epsten, Robert Haimsohn, Justin Levine and Kevin Wunderly. “We are truly blessed.
