Panel will discuss fight against BDS

DEL MAR, California (Press Release) — A panel of three experts will discuss how to defend Israel in the Palestinian-launched BDS propaganda war,  on Sunday, March 30, 1-3 p.m., at Congregation Beth Am, 5050 Del Mar Heights Road, San Diego.

The event is co-sponsored by T.E.A.M (Training and Education About the Middle East), The AMCHA Initiative and StandWithUs-San Diego. The fee is $20.00 for lunch.   T.E.A.M will also review it  past year’s activities.

Explains Jean-Jacques Surbeck, co-creator of T.E.A.M, “our panelists are actively engaged in fighting the Hasbara battles in the trenches of our campuses and other institutions of our community. They
will tell you each real-life stories and what it takes to stand up for Israel at every opportunity.”

The panelists are:

Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, a lecturer at the University of California Santa Cruz. She has written articles about academic anti-Zionism and antisemitism, and lectured on
the growing threat to the safety of Jewish students on college campuses. In July 2010, she co-organized a 2-week scholarly workshop entitled “Contemporary Antisemitism in Higher Education” at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies in Washington D.C. She recently co-founded the AMCHA Initiative, a non-profit organization devoted to combating campus anti-Semitism in America.

Nicole Bernstein joined StandWithUs in June of 2013 as the regional director for the San Diego chapter after serving in the corporate and high tech sector for 14 years.  Most recently she served in various leadership roles in executive management, communications and marketing  for Qualcomm San Diego.  The American-born daughter of two Israeli immigrants, Bernstein moved (made aliyah) to Israel in
2001, where she lived and worked until 2011.

Jean-Jacques (“J.J.”) Surbeck is an attorney from Geneva, Switzerland who worked for 16 years for the International Committee of the Red Cross (creator of the Geneva Conventions). In 2008, he co-created with Rita Heller T.E.A.M. (Training and Education About the Middle East), a non-profit group of which he is Executive Director, dedicated to bringing balance in the debate on balance in the debate on the Middle East conflict wherever such debate takes place.
