SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — The House of Israel, one of the 32 International houses in Balboa Park, will host its Annual Lawn Program on Sunday, April 20th, from noon until 4:00 p.m.  This event is family fun for young and the young-at-heart.

Entertainment from 2:00 until 3:30 pm will include:

  • Dancers from Tarbuton, San Diego’s Israeli Cultural Center
  • Singers Yael and Vlady
  • Yale Strom and his Klezmer Band, “Hot Pstrami” and vocalist Elizabeth Schwartz
    “Israeli Dancing Instruction by Dalyah along with audience participation

Children’s art activities will be provided, and  quick-growing  tomato plants whose seeds come from Israel, will be available while they last.   Israeli food, which will be available for purchase, will include shwarma, salad, and because this date falls in the middle of the Passover Holiday, matzoh (unleavened bread) will be served.

Before and after the entertainment, you are invited to tour The House, which features modern Israeli-innovations, a whole wall of Jerusalem stone, and state-of-the-art technology which depicts life in modern Israel.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, hats and umbrellas, along with your family and friends, and come prepared to enjoy Israeli food and music on a wonderful San Diego afternoon, in an Israeli-like climate. Remember, the Cabrillo Bridge is closed – enter the park from President’s Way.

The House of Israel has been open since 1948, hosting more than 12,000 international visitors yearly. The House of Israel has become a vital resource for portrayal of Israel’s true past and present and a friendly gathering place for the community. Visitors learn about the diverse faces of Israel, her history, values, demographics and her contributions to the world. We showcase Israeli culture, history, and innovation, and provide a welcoming environment for our guests.
