JERUSALEM (Press Release)– Mira Haberfeld, 26, originally from Sacramento, California, immigrated to israel in 2012 and is now living in Jerusalem. Josh Carr, 26, who made Aliyah from Johannesburg, South Africa three years ago, is a Lone Soldier who served as a combatant in the Kfir Brigade and currently serves as a commander of the Krav Maga instructors course. Josh and Mira met last July at a friend’s Shabbat dinner in Tel-Aviv and love quickly blossomed. A few days ago, Josh proposed to Mira, and his adoptive family in Jerusalem is already planning to celebrate the engagement at their Passover Seder.

“We are very excited and happy to have found each other in Israel. A few years ago, we chose individually to make Israel our home, and now we have decided that Israel is where we want to build our joint future and raise our children together,” said Mira

Mira made Aliyah to Israel with the help of Nefesh B’Nefesh, which assists in the process of making Aliyah, in collaboration with the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption, The Jewish Agency for Israel and Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael. Josh also receives assistance and support as a Lone Soldier from both Nefesh B’Nefesh and Friends of the IDF (FIDF), through their Lone Soldiers Program which helps young Olim who have left their country of origin to join the IDF, financially, socially, and emotionally during their challenging military service.

“We are proud to assist Mira and Josh and we were happy and excited to hear the announcement of their engagement,” said Erez Halfon, Vice Chairman of Nefesh B’Nefesh. “We will continue to support them in the future, on their way to establish a home and family in Israel.”
