Jewish Community Center Memberships are open to the entire community beginning Monday, March 24, according to Norman Gelman and Bernard Arenson, Membership Chairmen.

The Center has already received over 400 “Charter” family memberships through the mail without even a membership campaign, the chairmen said.

“Because we do not yet know how many members the Center can adequately handle the membership will be limited for a sort of “shakedown cruise.”

The basic membership in the Jewish Community Center is the Family Unit. (The family includes husband, wife and all children up to 21 years of age who are single and living in the same household.”

Membership rates for 1958 are:

Patron Family Membership (helps us serve other families who cannot pay the actual cost) … $200.00

Sustaining Family Membership (actual cost of service) …. $100.00

Regular Family Membership …. $48.00.

Where one adult and children are living together …$32.00

Husband and wife, no children …. $35.00

Individual Memberships for Adults

Single Young Adults (19-25 years) … $12.50

Single Adults  (26 and over) … $17.50

Out of Town Students at local colleges … $8.00

Senior Adults (over 60)
in Friendly Social Club … $7.50

For your membership you get the following activities:

‘Mike and Key’ Club Invites New Members

The “Mike and Key” Club invites all “Hams” to attend one of their meetings, held at 7:00 p.m., the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at Randall Hall, 65th and Broadway, in Encanto.

Tom Seeman will hold General Class Theory every meeting night.  Tom sends code practice at 5, 7, 10 and 15 wpm on 3755 kc. In the 80 meter band.

The group plans trips to stations in San Diego.  On March 18 they held a pot-luck dinner meeting. Those interested in joining may phone Johy May at CO-4-3265, after 6:45 p.m. or Eugene Haskell, CO-4-4610,aftger 4 p.m.

Passover Services For Armed Forces At Navy Base

Passover will be celebrated by men and women in the Armed Services stationed in the San Diego area at a Seder for such personnel, Friday, April 4th, at the Naval Training Center, according to Mr. Morris W. Douglas, President of the Jewish Welfare Board Armed Services Committee of San Diego.

Sponsored by the local Armed Services Committee, a member of the Federation of Jewish Agencies and affiliated with the National Jewish Welfare Board, the Seder will provide a “home away from home” during the Passover Holidays for the service personnel.

Mrs. Tom Turner, a veteran of many servicemen’s Seders, will again be in charge. She will be assisted by Mr. Stanley Yukon.
Supplies for the Seder will be furnished from the funds of the Armed Services Committee while the National Jewish Welfare Board will ship such Passover supplies as fish, matzohs, wine and hagadahs.

The Services will be led by Chaplain Elihu Rickel, assistant District Chaplain, 11th Naval District.  Top ranking military personnel will attend as guests.

“Much Ado …” Comedy at Campus Little Theatre

The Shakespearean comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing,” will be presented at the Campus Little Theatre of S.D. State College on March 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 at 8:30 p.m.  Reservations may be made by calling JU-2-8883 or evenings, JU-2-4422.
