LA MESA, California (Press Release) — Barnes & Noble in Grossmont Center and Chabad of East County’s Rabbi Rafi Andrusier are partnering for a June 12 discussion on the groundbreaking new biography, Rebbe: The Life and Teachings of Menachem M. Schneerson, the Most Influential Rabbi in Modern History.

Rabbi Andrusier will lead the discussion and a Q&A about the Rebbe. The event is set to take place on Thursday, June 12, at 6 p.m.

Grossmont Center’s Barnes & Noble is at 5500 Grossmont Center Drive in La Mesa. The event is free and open to the public.

As the grand rabbi, or Rebbe, of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, Schneerson was a pioneer credited with breathing new life into a people decimated by the Holocaust, and the biography is creating a buzz among both critics and historians across the globe. Many believe the Rebbe to be the messiah, and he became the spiritual leader to tens of thousands of Hasidic Jews worldwide whose counsel was sought by celebrities and foreign leaders alike.

Though he himself was a shy, frugal-living person who rebuffed the adulation and attention he received, the Rebbe’s scholarship and wisdom put him on the world stage.

The book was written by Joseph Telushkin, an American rabbi, lecturer and author who is among the most prolific writers and respected interpreters of Judaism in the United States.
