“The Projected Image: The Jewish Experience on Film,” will be cablecast on five Tuesday nights in September, beginning on Sept. 2.   Themes include “The Evolving Jew,” “The Immigrant Experience,” “The Holocaust,” “The Jewish Homeland” and “Tackling Prejudice.”

“Many of the films being screened are rare and hard to find and included in the series are early films about Israel made by Hollywood and two Israeli classics,”

Stan Schwartz, a spokesman for the historical society, said advance notices from Turner Classic Movies indicate that many of the films in the series are rare, including some early films about Israel.

TCM host Robert Osborne will be joined by Dr. Eric Goldman, a Jewish film educator, adjunct professor of film at Yeshiva University and president of Ergo Media. Together they will introduce the films.
