El Al and Jet Blue seek to codeshare

el al logoNEW YORK (Press Release) – EL AL Israel Airlines and JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) on Monday, Sept. 29 filed with the United States Department of Transportation seeking approval to codeshare.

Subject to government approval, EL AL plans to place its “LY” code on select JetBlue-operated flights to/from New York (JFK/Newark), expanding options for EL AL customers throughout the United States.

jetblueEL AL currently offers up to 22 weekly nonstop flights from New York (JFK/Newark) to Tel Aviv, which easily tap into JetBlue’s growing network. With one stop in New York (JFK/Newark), EL AL customers may connect between 37 JetBlue cities and the nonstop EL AL flight, including Albuquerque, Austin, Boston, Buffalo, Burbank, Burlington, Charleston, Charlotte-Douglas, Chicago-O’Hare, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Houston-Hobby, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Oakland, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh/Durham, Rochester, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, San Juan, Sarasota/Bradenton, Savannah, Seattle/Tacoma, Syracuse, Tampa, Washington-Dulles and West Palm Beach.

JetBlue currently serves 86 cities across the United States, Caribbean, and Latin America.

Onboard JetBlue, travelers can enjoy the carrier’s signature in-flight experience including seatback entertainment, unlimited free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as the most legroom in economy (based on average fleet-wide seat pitch of U.S.A. airlines).

EL AL and JetBlue have been interline partners since 2010, allowing customers to purchase single-ticket itineraries, combining travel on both airlines.
