SAN DIEGO (Press release) —  StandWithUs – San Diego will hold its annual “Festival of Lights” celebration on Sunday, December 7, at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines.  Dr. Bob and Mao Shillman sponsor the gala and M. Zuhdi Jasser is the keynote speaker.  Program begins at  5:30 pm with an appetizer & wine reception followed by program and dinner at 6:30pm.  The Hilton is at:  10950 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037

Zuhdi Jasser, M.D. is an internationally renowned expert on political Islam and American Islamist organizations. He is founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD), which advocates for the preservation of the founding principles of the United States Constitution.  AIFD seeks to counter the ideology that fuels radical Islam. http://aifdemocracy.org/

A first generation American Muslim, whose parents fled the Baath regime of Syria in the 1960’s, Jasser is fighting to shake the hold that the Muslim Brotherhood and other American Islamic organizations seek to exert on organized Islam in America.  He regularly briefs Congressional Anti-Terrorism Caucus on the threat of radicalization of the American Muslim community and appears on major news outlets.  He has spoken at hundreds of national and international events including universities.

Dr. Jasser earned his medical degree with a U.S. Navy scholarship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1992. He served 11 years as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy. He is a past president of the Arizona Medical Association.
