Editor’s Note: Over the years, freelance writer Judy Lash Balint has written numerous articles appearing in San Diego Jewish World, and now she has a new job as an English-language radio broadcaster from Jerusalem.  We want to wish her lots of mazal, while passing on to our readers information about how you can catch her broadcasts about life in Israel.  In the following note, Balint provides the specifics.

By Judy Lash Balint

JERUSALEM — For the past fourteen years I’ve been writing and publishing segments of Jerusalem Diaries.  A few months ago I joined the dynamic team at Voice of Israel radio, whose goal, like mine, is “Bringing Israel Closer.” Instead of writing, I’m broadcasting from Jerusalem–a show called Jerusalem Diaries, that’s full of features and interviews with some of the fascinating people to be found here at the center of the Jewish world.  We tackle issues that concern all those who care about Israel and try to present diverse points of view.

I hope you’ll come and find me at Voice of Israel and either listen in live Monday-Thursday at 6 p.m Israel time (8 a.m PST; 11 a.m EST) or download and listen when you’re commuting or exercising. You can find archives of the past few months of my show here.  You’ll be asked to register (free) and then you’ll have access to all the great content from Voice of Israel radio.

As always, I look forward to your feedback and welcome your suggestions for guests and/or topics.

Meantime, in case you were wondering where those ubiquitous blue boxes of Hanukkah candles come from, here’s my interview with the owner of the Menorah Candle Factory–in Sderot, less than a mile from Gaza.
