Interfaith luncheon scheduled Jan. 19

coexistCARLSBAD, California (SDJW) — An interfaith luncheon bringing together Jews, Muslims and Christians of San Diego County will be hosted at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at the Christ Presbyterian Church, 7807 Centella Street, Carlsbad.

Co sponsors are the Jewish Collaborative of San Diego and the North County Islamic Federation. A spokesman for the Jewish Collaborative said the intent of the luncheon is for adherents of the three religions to “come together to get to know each other, share a meal with each other, and take part in social action projects.”

The date was chosen to coincide with celebrations of the birthday of slain civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, the spokesman said.

Participants will assemble hygiene kits for families in need and special kits for veterans.
