nepal map - wikipediaSAN DIEGO (Press Release)– On Wednesday, May 27, at 7 p.m. the San Diego community will gather for a special presentation of Waiting for Mamu, a documentary about a now destroyed orphanage in Nepal. The event comes just weeks after a terrible series of earthquakes rocked Nepal, killing thousands, and leaving tens of thousands homeless. One hundred percent of proceeds will go to humanitarian relief efforts in Nepal, including a fund to help the orphanage. The event will be held at the Congregation Beth El in the Community Theater, 8660 Gilman Drive, in La Jolla.

Tickets and more information can be found at www.classy.org/waitingformamu

All audiences are welcome to join this special screening and fundraising event.

Waiting for Mamu, tells the incredible, heartwarming story of how social worker Pushpa Basnet has dedicated her life to helping the children of prisoners in Kathmandu, Nepal, by giving them somewhere safe to live, learn, and grow.

Pushpa and her 48 children were forced to evacuate their shelter after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated Nepal and destroyed their home. Tremors have continued since, with another 7.3 magnitude earthquake occurring just weeks after.

Attendees will hear from a local San Diegan doctor who was in Nepal during the earthquake and get an update from the field. Learn how you can help Pushpa and thousands of other Nepalese people survive the devastation and re-build their lives.
