SAN DIEGO─ Summer is upon us, and, so are summer blockbusters.  Here’s a preview of some independent films that contain less special effects and receive less publicity.

*

Holdergeist   Although officially retired, the spirit of Eric Holder continues to haunt congressional Republicans.  It features lots of chills and thrills as a scary black ghost tries to confiscate every gun in the United States and speaks frankly about racism in America.

*

The Revengers: The Rage at L. Ron  A group of superheroes escape the clutches of the Church of Scientology, repudiate their past lives, and travel to Xenu to hunt down L. Ron Hubbard and burn his books.

*

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nations and Terrorists   The Impossible Mission Forces is dispatched to the Middle East to impose peace on the countries and terrorist movements of the region.  Tom Cruise and his team destroy Iran’s nuclear program, Syria’s chemical weapons, and the tools ISIS uses to decapitate captives and demolish archeological treasures.

*

Ted Too   Ted Cruz has to prove he is humane to run for president.  Tagline: “I knew Ted Kennedy, and, you sir, are no Ted Kennedy.”

*

Thoracic World    Aging baby boomers flock to an expensive cardiac theme park run by a quack doctor because the Affordable Health Care will pay for their treatment.
