SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — The Men’s Club of Beth Israel of San Diego hosts Ari Segal as its featured speaker at a July 15 Dinner Forum to be held at the congregation at 9001 Towne Center Drive.  Segal will discuss the strategy, mission, and performance of the San Diego Gulls, San Diego’s start-up American Hockey League (AHL) team and the primary affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks.

Segal is the President of Business Operations for the San Diego Gulls. He also acts as a special assistant to the CEO of the Anaheim Ducks and its holding company, H&S Ventures. Ari started with the NHL club in 2012 as an intern while at Stanford Law School and was also retained as a consultant.

He has worked in professional sports consulting, working primarily with NHL clubs and the league, since 2012. His main focuses include advanced analytics, salary cap management and technology-enabled player development strategies.

Prior to joining the Anaheim Ducks organization, Segal was an associate with McKinsey & Company. He worked with the firm’s sports practice division, advising clients on business and performance strategy and operations. During his time with McKinsey & Company, he conducted a study on player development which included the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art player care and development system. The system analyzed the full lifecycle of player management from selection, through player development, pro-readiness, and decline.

He also gained extensive business experience as a private equity associate with CCMP Capital Advisors from 2007-2009 and an investment banking analyst with Lehman Brothers from 2005-2007.

Segal grew up in northern New Jersey and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005, receiving a Bachelor’s degree, with distinction, in History & Foreign Affairs. He also received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and his JD from Stanford Law School in 2013. While completing his degrees he was also an intern with the NHL and was a member of the broadcast media strategy group, focusing on both league and club broadcast distribution deals.

This program is open to the entire San Diego community.  A  dinner will be served. The dinner fee: $15 with an RSVP, $18 without an RSVP. You may RSVP via the following link http://cbisd.org/event/mcforum-july/or by phone at  (858) 900-2598.
