LAGUNA WOODS, California — Bernice Loeb (née Seiler), of Laguna Woods, returned to her Creator on Wednesday, July 29, after a short illness, at the ripe old age of 93. She lived a long and fulfilling life. Bernice was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1922, daughter of Charles and Rose Seiler. Bernice was a woman of many trades, she worked for many years at a hair salon in Woodland Hills as well as a real estate broker.  After her retirement, she volunteered in many places around Oceanside, such as the thrift store and Brother Benno’s Center.  She was very involved with ORT and Hadassah.

Bernice was married to her beloved husband William (Bill) Loeb in 1948, who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her two children, Charles (Chuck) and Sharyn, as well as her daughter-in-law Karen. She is also survived by three grandchildren Lauren Loeb, Matthew Loeb, and Rose Aslan; and one great grandchild, IssHaq Habib. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Ida Rose, brothers Oscar and Leonard Seiler.   She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Formerly, with her husband Bill, Bernice loved to travel the world, square dance, and engage in a myriad of social activities. She was a founding member of the Ocean Hills Country Club (formerly Leisure Village in Oceanside, CA) where she lived for more than 30 years and participated and helped organize many clubs, such as the Travel Club, the Yiddish Club, and the Solos Club. She was a social butterfly and was loved by many, she would always make an effort to speak to new people. At her final home at the Regency in Laguna Woods, she enjoyed participating in the daily social activities and speaking to her fellow residents. She was an avid mahjong, bridge, and pan player and enjoyed getting together with her friends on a regular basis for girls’ night and games.

Bernice requested to be cremated and her ashes will be placed beside that of her husband Bill’s on a hillside on Pt. Loma overlooking a beautiful view of San Diego and the Pacific Ocean. Bernice will be dearly missed by her family and friends, and a memorial service will be held for her on Thursday, August 20, at 11:30 am, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Pt. Loma, San Diego ( 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Dr, San Diego, CA 92106). Rabbi Joshua Burrows will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bernice’s life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Brother Benno’s Center in Oceanside at http://www.brotherbenno.org/monetary-contributions/ or 3260 Production Avenue Oceanside, CA 92058 USA. The family would like to thank the Regency in Laguna Woods for their care and dedication.
