Holocaust remembrance day set for April 23 in S.D.

SAN DIEGO (Press Release) –The Jewish Federation of San Diego County will host the annual Holocaust Memorial Commemoration event taking place at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center on Sunday, April 23 at 1:30 pm. San Diego’s commemoration is one the largest in the country with more than 500 community members attending. The commemoration serves as a day of reflection, reconciliation, and a chance to honor for our community’s Holocaust survivors.

The theme for this year’s remembrance is Memory & Morality- Countering Indifference.  As we reflect upon the words of Nobel Laureate Wiesel, “the opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference,” we will consider ways to preserve the memory of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust, honor our community’s Holocaust survivors and consider ways to act upon the words Never Again.

Roberta Grossman, producer and Director of the upcoming feature documentary Who Will Write Our History will be the keynote speaker.

The Community Holocaust Commemoration event is free and open to the public.
