SAN DIEGO (Press Release)–The College Avenue Center, operated by Jewish Family Service, announced its schedule of events for March, highighted by its own International World Expo March 19-23. “Take a trip around the globe without leaving San Diego,” organizers have urged. “All week long come learn about different cultures, traditions foods & dress from around the globe. There will be something different every day, and be sure to join us Friday, March 23, when our members represent their favorite countries from around the world.

AARP Tax-Aide is the Nation’s largest free volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service available to all tax payers with middle to low income. AARP Tax Aide pays special attention to the needs and concerns of taxpayers 60 years and over. The volunteers are trained in cooperation with the IRS. Tax help is by appointment only. No walk ins. Wednesday, March 7 at 1 pm —Computer Class: Meet The Computer – Never tried a computer before? In this course you will get to meet the computer, the keyboard and the mouse, and you will learn what they are and how to use them. No experience is necessary for you to take this relaxed, fun class.
Thursday, March 8th- at 12:45 — Couponing Program – Eleonor Young, couponing expert will present ways to save money through using coupons in the newspaper and online.
Friday, March 9 starting at 12 pm — Purim Celebration – Special holiday lunch including hamentashen and entertainment starting at 12:30 by Yochanan Sebastian Winston on flute, clarinet, and saxophone and featuring Tommy Gannon on the piano and vocals. Together they will showcase an upbeat and lively musical program of Hebrew, Yiddish and popular tunes. Dressing up is encouraged!
Monday, March 12th- at 12:45– Music of the 3 B’s: Beethoven, Bach and Bartok – Eileen Wingard on violin with piano accompaniment, presents a program of classical favorites.
Wednesday, March 14 at 1 pm — Computer Class: Looking At Windows – Refresh the skills you need to work with the Windows operating system or just learn some helpful things about Windows. In this course, you will learn skills that are useful for beginning computer users including resizing and manipulating Windows, changing the mouse properties, using toolbars, rearranging the Desktop and getting support online.
Thursday, March 15th at 12:45 — Professional Organizing – Sue Crum, professional organizer with the RED Team, will present a program on: The Paper Pile Up: How to Keep it Moving Through Your Life.
Wednesday, March 21 at 1 pm —Computer Class: Exploring The Internet – Having trouble finding what you need on the Internet? Come to this class and learn the best way to search for the information you want. You will get to try out some search strategies online with plenty of time to practice.
