SAN DIEGO –A Jewish community rally in support of Israel during the current Gaza crisis has been scheduled for 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Nobel Athletic Field & Recreation Center, 8810 Judicial Drive.
A growing list of speakers include U.S. Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego); Michael Sonduck, interim president of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County; Rabbi Michael Berk, spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel as well as president of the San Diego Rabbinical Association; Claire Ellman, Jewish Federation board chiar; and Yosi Herzog, San Diego Israel Education Ambassador.
Attendees are asked to bring a stuffed animal for the children of Sha’ar Hanegev, the partnership region of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County.
In other news, the Jewish Federations of North America are collecting funds to assist residents of Sha’ar Hanegev and other communities in the south of Israel.
“Jewish Federations are creating this relief fund to help our partners, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and ORT, deliver immediate services and assistance on the ground throughout the south. Such services include trauma counseling, financial assistance, portable bomb shelters, and potentially other initiatives including bringing children in the strike zones out of harm’s way,” a spokesman said.
