Fund names Hillel directorship for Lori Bolotin

SAN DIEGO (Press Release)– Hillel of San Diego and the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego have announced that Sandra and Arthur Levinson have established the “Lori Bolotin Development Director for Hillel of San Diego Endowment Fund” at the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego.

The position of Development Director will be named, in perpetuity, in honor of Lori Bolotin, of blessed memory, who served as Hillel’s inaugural Development Director from 2007 to 2012. Lori passed away in December of 2012. During her tenure with Hillel, Lori was responsible for raising millions of dollars for Jewish life on campus, including a capital campaign for the Melvin Garb Hillel Center to serve the San Diego State University Jewish community.

The Lori Bolotin Development Director Fund will ensure that Hillel continues to be able to inspire philanthropists committed to enriching the lives of Jewish college students in the region. Each year, funds from the endowment will support Lori’s legacy of fundraising success. With a significant proportion of the fundraising costs covered by this endowment, more dollars contributed by Hillel’s supporters will go directly to serving students on campus.

“Lori loved raising funds for the Jewish community,” said Charlene Seidle, Senior Vice President of the Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego. “Giving others the opportunity to make a difference in the community gave Lori joy. And she made every donor feel proud about the lives they were touching.”

“Lori was an extraordinarily talented fundraiser who was tenacious, personable and compassionate,” said Michael Rabkin, Executive Director of Hillel of San Diego. “She inspired hundreds of people to invest in enriching the lives of young Jews.”

Lori’s legacy will live on through the work of successive professionals who will serve as the Lori Bolotin Development Director at Hillel of San Diego.
