With a theme of “Sapphire Jubilee” and a focus on raising monies for the Resident Assistance Fund, the Annual Gala will celebrate 70 years of philanthropic support for San Diego’s seniors. Hundreds of guests are expected to attend to support the scholarship program for current and future residents who might otherwise have nowhere to call home.

The live auction will include items such as a Dinner Party for 10 in the Private Wine Room of Jeffrey Strauss’ acclaimed Pamplemousse Grille, an 18 karat white gold, stainless steel and black stainless steel nautical cable bangle with 0.97 total carat weight diamonds from ALOR, and Private Wine Tasting and Cabana Dinner for 8 at Cohn Restaurant Group’s Vintana Wine + Dine. Another hot item in the live auction is a custom made “Sapphire Jubilee Diamond Pendant Necklace” featuring 18 karat white gold diamond and blue sapphire heart to heart style pendant with 74 round sapphires and 140 round diamonds pave set generously presented by Unicorn Jewelry.
Over the years, Sylvia and David Geffen have generously supported numerous organizations and projects that help promote Jewish traditions and culture. Sylvia is the President of the Seacrest Foundation, which raises funds to support Seacrest Village in its service to the elderly, and is a senior partner in the Shallan, Geffen and Scherer Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC. David is a past president of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center and is an international speaker on contact lenses and refractive surgery, and works with his team at Gordon-Weiss-Schanzlin Vision Institute.
Both are extremely active in the San Diego community, serving on a number of nonprofit boards. The Geffen Family was part of the transition of the organization from a small facility on 54th Street to the 10 acre campus in Encinitas. Sylvia’s mother, Sigrid Fischer, was one of the original leaders of the Women’s Auxiliary and helped to raise funds for many years through her work on the Annual Gala. A bus at Seacrest Village today is called “Sigrid’s Shuttle.”
