JCPA expresses support for independent Ukraine

JCPA logoNEW YORK (Press Release) – Rabbi Steve Gutow and Larry Gold, President and Chair of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, on Wednesday, March 5 , released the following statement on the violence in Ukraine:

“With the rest of the world, we have looked with deep concern on the recent events in Ukraine. Our hope is that further violence can be averted, and the people of that nation will be free to continue forging a path of independence based on the principle of self-determination.

“We also are especially interested in preserving the security and well-being of the large Ukrainian Jewish community during this turbulent period. It is comforting to know that a number of major Jewish institutions, particularly the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, are actively engaged in reaching out to and addressing the needs of our fellow Jews in Ukraine.”
