OCEANSIDE, California (SDJW)– Anti-Islamist speaker and columnist Pamela Geller, in a weekend appearance at the Iglesia del Senor Jesucristo en America, called for Christians to unite with Jews to resist efforts by Islamists around the world to impose sharia law on others.
In a speech that was translated phrase by phrase into Spanish, Geller said she was concerned that Islamic organizations are making inroads into the traditionally Christian Hispanic community, and said there needs to be more education and outreach to counter this.
Geller’s views have become controversial with such groups as the Southern Poverty Law Center describing her as “the anti-Muslim movement’s most visible and flamboyant figurehead. She’s relentlessly shrill and coarse in her broad-brush denunciations of Islam and makes preposterous claims, such as that President Obama is the ‘love child’ of Malcolm X.”
In her Oceanside speech, Geller said the same hatred among Islamists that targets Jews also targets Christians, particularly those in the Middle East and in Africa. She said that non-Islamic religions are confronted with a war of Islamic imperialism and supremacy being waged against them.
Islamists, in imposing their religious law on others, give only three choices, she said: conversion, death or living as a second-class citizen who must pay exorbitant taxes for protection.
Geller urged the Hispanic community “to get involved in this fight, and give voice to the voiceless.”
