SAN DIEGO (Press Release)– The Jewish Federation of San Diego County and community partners will hold their annual community event to celebrate Yom Ha’atzma’ut (Israel’s Independence Day) on May 18 at Nobel Athletic Field near the University Towne Center. This is a free event to celebrate and educate our local community about Israel and her culture. The entire San Diego Jewish community is participating, including Friendship Circle of San Diego, which will be kicking off the day with the annual Friendship Walk at 9AM to benefit children with special needs in San Diego and Israel. This year the Jewish Federation has partnered with many local organizations, synagogues and vendors in an effort to make this the best year yet.
“We are excited to come together as a community on this day to show solidarity and celebrate Israel’s birthday,” commented Aaron Truax, the Jewish Federation’s spokesman. “Last year we had more than 5,000 attendees and expect more for Israel’s 66th!”
The festival will include live music from The Fountainheads, entertainment, with local and special performances, Israeli folk dancing, a circus, kid’s activities, sports, teen programs, arts and crafts, games, petting zoos, puppies, shopping, and delicious kosher food! “We will also hold an opportunity drawing for free tickets to Israel provided by El Al Airlines, and free hotel stays at the Inbal Hotel, and many other great prizes!” said Truax.
