SAN DIEGO (Press Release) –Hillel of San Diego is calling for volunteers to help distribute food to victims of San Diego County’s wildfires. Wendy Bryer, coordinator, may be contacted at wbryer@hillelsd.org
The organization noted that while the Hillel House at California State College at San Marcos had to be evacuated, it was still clear of fire as of Friday afternoon, May 16.
A Hillel announcement added: “Our North County Hillel professionals are keeping in touch with students and their families impacted by the fires. Students and families who need direct assistance should contact Jewish Family Service at (877) 537-1818. (Always call 9-1-1 in an emergency.)”
Michael Rabkin, Hillel’s executive director in the San Diego County area, urged Hillel students and supporters to attend the Israel Independence Festival to be held Sunday, May 18, at Nobel Field in the University Town Center area.
“At times like these, it is important to gather together as a community,” he said. :Hillel of San Diego will have a booth where you can write messages of thanks to San Diego’s first responders.”
