El Al affixes papal logo to one of its jets

TEL AVIV (Press Release) — At a ceremony at Ben Gurion International Airport, the President and CEO of EL AL Israel Airlines, David Maimon, and the Ambassador of the Vatican in Israel, Nuncio H.E. Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto, proudly affixed Pope Francis’ logo onto the  EL AL aircraft in which Pope Francis will fly home to Rome.

The special 777 aircraft will depart Ben Gurion International Airport on Monday, May 26 and will be outfitted to meet special requirements for the Pope and his delegation.

Pope Francis will fly from Rome to Amman, Jordan, on Saturday, May 24, and thence to Tel Aviv for a visit to Bethlehem and Jerusalem before departing on Monday to return to the Vatican.
