SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — San Diego Jewish World‘s movie reviewer and humor columnist, Lawrence Baron, a professor emeritus of history at San Diego State University, will deliver three summer lectures on Jewish movies  at Temple Emanu-El, 6299 Capril Drive, with the first coming at 7 p.m. tonight (Saturday, June 21), and the others scheduled on July 19 and August 16.

Baron will take a critical look tonight at  Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story, a documentary that explores the careers of such greats as Hank Greenberg, Sandy Koufax and Al Rosen, as well as those of other players not so well known.

While some of these players had to endure anti-Semitic taunts, baseball was the quintessential American experience and by excelling at it, Jews could become American role models.
