SAN DIEGO (Press Release) – On Sunday, July 20, the San Diego Jewish Community will come together from 3 – 4 p.m. in Doyle Park at 8175 Regents Road to show support and solidarity for Israel. The event, dubbed Reach Out for Israel Rally, and hosted by the Jewish Federation of San Diego County, has gathered more than 50 supporting organizations at the time of this release, and expected to grow. The community will gather peacefully to show support for Israel and solidarity with the four million Israelis currently in range of terrorist missiles, and pray for the safety of all Israelis and Palestinian civilians who have been caught up in the escalating violence.
The rally will also serve as a fundraiser to provide on the ground support for immediate needs in Israel including moving children out of missile range, helping ensure the safety of the 70,000 people with disabilities in peril and provide support and trauma counseling for those whose lives and homes have been destroyed in the conflict.
Donations can be made at bit.ly/israelaid14 or by texting “Israel Aid” to 51818. Thanks to the Federation system, 100% of donations will go to immediate, on the ground relief to those in need.
“Our vision is a positive, inclusive event to show our support of the Jewish state.” said Michael Sonduck, President and CEO of the Jewish Federation. “We welcome all San Diegans who want to express solidarity with Israel, from all walks of life. Let’s all stand together in our concern and support for the people of Israel and all peace-loving peoples throughout the region. We pray for peace.”
In the past ten days, more than 1,000 rockets have been fired into Israel from Hamas strongholds in Gaza.
