SAN DIEGO (Press Release) –With its seventh consecutive “Highest Rating” from Charity Navigator, Jewish Family Service has joined the elite company of only 2% of nonprofits nationally who earned this distinction over this length of time. Charity Navigator, America’s premier charity evaluator, awards its 4-star designation to nonprofit organizations that have demonstrated strong fiscal management. Charity Navigator highlights the fine work of efficient charities and provides donors with the essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.
According to Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator, Jewish Family Service earned its 4-star rating for its sound fiscal health and commitment to accountability and transparency.
“We are proud to announce Jewish Family Service of San Diego has earned our seventh consecutive 4-star rating,” said Berger. “Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that the organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way. Only 2% of the charities we rate have received at least 7 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Jewish Family Service of San Diego outperforms most other charities in America.”
“This accomplishment,” said Michael Hopkins, CEO of Jewish Family Service, “is a testament to our Board of Directors and staff who take great pride in fulfilling our mission and managing our resources so we can help move clients along the continuum of self-sufficiency. It addresses perhaps the greatest donor concern—that their money is stewarded wisely and put to good use.”
