NEW YORK (Press Release)– With the high demand of travelers, EL AL Israel Airlines is preparing for a sweet new year by offering traditional in-flight holiday treats. In celebration of the festive season, passengers will enjoy a taste of traditional meals with apples and honey available on all flights
Anyone interested in creating a honey cake or pomegranate mousse recipe at home can follow these easy instructions from famed Israeli chef/ head EL AL Chef Moshe Segev.
HONEY CAKE
| Ingredients ½ cup honey
½ cup sugar ½ cup corn oil ½ cup water 1 egg 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon cinnamon A pinch of clove A pinch of nutmeg 2 egg whites ¼ cup sugar Ingredients for whipped apple cream 1 carton of sweet cream Powdered sugar 1 heaping tablespoon of apple purée A pinch of cinnamon 3 tablespoons of small apple chunks soaked in cold water and lemon juice Method The cream topping: Whip the cream. Add the sugar and the cinnamon. When the mixture is stiff, add the apple purée and the apple chunks. Serve the cold whipped apple cream separately.

POMEGRANATE MOUSSE
Ingredients
1 cup of cold sweet cream
2 teaspoons of powdered sugar
¼ vanilla bean, seeds only
Grated peel of half a fresh lemon
2 fresh pomegranates, seeds only
I tablespoon white sugar
Elegant martini glasses for serving
Method
Whip the cream with the vanilla and powdered sugar in a mixer. When the cream is firm and light, put the mixing bowl, as is, into the refrigerator. Remove the pomegranate seeds from the skins. Mix the pomegranate seeds with the grated lemon peel and a tablespoon of sugar (not the powdered sugar!)
To serve
Place a heaped tablespoon of seasoned pomegranate seeds into each martini glass; top with a heaping tablespoon of the whipped vanilla cream, garnish with a few more pomegranate seeds and serve. (Kids will love to lick the remaining whipped cream off the beaters.)
