Here is a summary of upcoming Jewish community events. Other pending events, previously reported in this column, may be found in our Jewish community calendar.

Temple Emanu-El announces its “Band Shabbat” at 6 p.m., Friday, March 20. The event includes uplifting melodies, layered harmonies while blending traditional and contemporary sound in a prayer experience that is participatory, joyful, and deeply meaningful.

Lawrence Family JCC’s North County Film Screening presents “Once Upon My Mother” at 5 p.m., Monday, March 23 at the Carlsbad City Library. This film follows a true story of a Moroccan-Jewish mother who refuses to accept doctors’ predictions that her son, born with a club foot, will never walk. Click here for tickets.

Ner Tamid Synagogue announces its “Second Night Pesach Seder” at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 2. Click here to register.

Temple Emanu-El presents its “Congregational Seder Brunch” at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 4. The event includes a catered brunch menu from Elijah’s Restaurant which includes matzah, charoset, eggs, chopped liver, matzah ball soup, lox, whitefish salad, egg salad, tuna salad, vegetables, breakfast potatoes, matzah brei, egg casserole, and macaroons. Ner Tamid Synagogue’s The Man presents its “First Annual: Matzah Brei Breakfast Fundraiser” at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, April 5. Organizers say to come and support a great cause, and it is just like a pancake breakfast but during Passover. Click here to register.

Ner Tamid Synagogue and Temple Adat Shalom present “Kabbalat Shabbat Services” at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 10 at Ner Tamid Synagogue. The services will be led by Cantor Ben Rosner and Morah Jessie Birnbaum with an Oneg following services. Click here to register for security purposes.

Ner Tamid Synagogue announces its “Yom Ha’Shoah Service” at 7 p.m., Monday, April 13 at Temple Adat Shalom. The service will be led by Cantor Ben Rosner and Rabbi Ryan Newfield. Click here to register.

Kindness Initiative presents “Bingo Bash” at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 7 at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. The event includes 8 rounds of Bingo, 2 Grand Finale rounds, amazing prizes, a light dinner and appetizers. Click here to register.

Lawrence Family JCC’s 36th Annual Midseason Film Screening presents “Frontier” at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 14. This film takes place in 1943 when Jews fleeing Nazi persecution set out across the Pyrenees. A civil servant chooses to defy his superiors and help refugees cross into safety. Kindness Initiative G’Mach reports its Passover Drive is open from now until Tuesday, March 31. Items for Seder essentials include matzah, grape juice, chocolate matzah, macaroons, gluten-free matzah, matzah ball mix, chicken soup mix, gefilte fish. Hours of operation are 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Mondays -Thursdays, and 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Fridays. Click here for more information.

Kindness Initiative G’Mach reports volunteers are invited to drop-in at 10 a.m., on Fridays. Organizers say to show up for a few hours, tour the space, explore the many ways to make an impact in the community. Spread the word and volunteer to start Shabbat with a mitzvah. Click here to volunteer.
