During a gala tribute to retiring CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin, B’nai B’rith proudly launched the Daniel S. Mariaschin Institute for Leadership and Public Policy.
Mariaschin’s decades of leadership as CEO have helped shape B’nai B’rith’s global voice on human rights, diplomacy and Jewish communal advocacy. Mariaschin is retiring from B’nai B’rith on June 30.
The tribute was held in conjunction with the organization’s International Board of Governors meeting in New York City.

Yad Vashem will establish a Holocaust Education Center in Munich, Germany, strengthening its global outreach to advance Holocaust education and remembrance, at a time of growing distortion and rising antisemitism worldwide. The center’s location was chosen after an extensive nationwide survey and rigorous field research, with support from the German government.
This new Education Center, Yad Vashem’s first outside Israel, will be established at Karolinenplatz in central Munich, Bavaria. Munich was chosen for its strategic location and educational landscape, making it an ideal base for Holocaust education. Together with Yad Vashem’s expertise in remembrance, documentation, and teaching, the center is designed to have the greatest possible educational reach and impact. While located in Munich, it is intended to serve as a national platform for audiences across Germany and neighboring countries.

The World Jewish Congress has criticized Antonio Guterres in the wake of a report that the U.N. secretary general has added the Israeli Prison Service to the annex of a summary of conflict-related sexual violence. The organization stated, “Criticisms of governments is legitimate. The normalization of narratives and conspiracies that demonize the Jewish state is not. Institutional change is in order. The credibility of international organizations depends on their ability to consistently reject antisemitic double standards and remember why they were created in the first place.”

The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History announced on Thursday that it has raised $50 million, or half its goal to raise $100 million for its campaign dubbed “The Weitzman Reimagined.” The focus of the Philadelphia-based museum will be “bringing the American Jewish story to life through advanced technology, design, storytelling, content, and engaging visitor experiences to appeal to today’s audiences.”

The Anti-Defamation League will present supermodel Cindy Crawford with its “Torch of Liberty Award” at the June 4 National Home Furnishings Industry Awards Dinner in New York City. The award extols her “commitment to promoting respect, countering hatred and bigotry and supporting fair treatment for all.”
