Two students affiliated with StandWithUs at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, were preparing for a screening of We Will Dance Again, a review of the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on southern Israel by Hamas when they noticed an anonymous threat on Yik Yak social media. It said “I’m bringing the shooters!” and “Watch out!”
The young women — identified by StandWithUs only by their first names, Gabi and Victoria — notified law enforcement which identified the poster as Evelyn Summers and arrested her on a felony charge of communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property.
