RJC: Time to rally around Israel

Norm Coleman

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Press Release) – On the recent attacks by Hamas against Israel, the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) on Wednesday released the following statement from National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman:

“Today we call on all Americans, regardless of political party, to rally in support of Israel after it suffered a new, extended round of terrorist attacks from Gaza, perpetrated by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. We must also stand behind President Trump and Ambassador Haley as they renew diplomatic efforts to get the UN to take action against Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and their financial backers, Iran.

“Israel has shown unbelievable restraint and resolve in defending itself against this ongoing barbarism. While the Israeli military uses all possible caution in precision strikes to dismantle Hamas and Islamic Jihad’s offensive capabilities and root out their leadership, the terrorists have done the complete opposite. Yesterday, the world watched as Hamas and Islamic Jihad fired over 160 mortars and rockets indiscriminately at Israeli civilians, even hitting a kindergarten. When it comes to defending our ally, the only democracy in the Middle East, party affiliation shouldn’t matter. That is why we urge all Americans to voice their support now.”

  1. A message from an Israeli on the Gaza border to Jewish National Fund:

“And…. we’re back in the shelter and back with sleepless nights. More than 70 rockets in one day!!!!

I want to thank you all for you heartwarming messages. It really makes us stronger! In these tough moments being part of the Jewish National Fund family makes a huge difference.

Today wasn’t the beginning of something new. Today was one very intense day of a months-long escalation. Our morning started with more than 70 rockets fired toward us at 6:59 a.m. right when our kids were on the way to school and parents were taking toddlers to preschool. Children at the bus stations ran to the shelter and refused to evacuate. Teachers did their best to help them overcome their traumatic morning and continue with their routine as much as possible.

We want you all to know that we are strong and are here to help those who need it. Our Jewish National Fund Trauma Resilience Center is at the forefront of reaching out and providing support. We do our best to continue our routine. It’s the best that we can do for our children, for ourselves, and for Israel.

On behalf of the people of the Gaza Envelope communities I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!!

    I will keep you posted.

    Love,
    Michal

NEW YORK – The World Jewish Congress strongly condemns the terror barrage being launched against Israel from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and urges the international community to recognize that Israel is under attack.

This morning, dozens of rockets and mortar shells were fired against Israeli communities, including kindergartens, homes, and nature reserves. In parallel, Israel identified a terror tunnel from Gaza, measuring 2 km long and infiltrating Israeli territory by 900 meters. The world must open its eyes and realize that Israel under attack and its civilians are being indiscriminately targeted.

We urge the international community to hold Hamas fully responsible for inciting this violence, and for providing the systemic infrastructure that enables such terror to continue unhindered.
