WASHINGTON, DC (Press Release) – Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), who has been a steadfast supporter of Israel and a Middle East peace that’s based on the state’s full recognition by its neighbors, has written to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asking that they stop U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority for as long as the Authority is in partnership with Hamas, a relationship that resulted from a reconciliation between the two groups last month.
“The Palestinian Authority has received hundreds of millions of dollars in United States aid, and the State Department has gone to great lengths over the years to ensure that funding does not fall into hands of those with terrorist links and criminal records,” McCarthy writes in the letter sent May 11.
