SAN DIEGO — It’s hard to believe September is just around the corner. Like many of you, I’ve recently sent my kids back to school, stepping into a new season of early mornings, packed lunches, and fresh routines.
As the school year gets underway, ADL San Diego is here to support you. Whether you’re navigating the classroom, shaping policy, or building community, we’re committed to helping create inclusive and safe learning environments for all.
This commitment feels especially urgent in the wake of the heartbreaking shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. The loss of two students and the injury of many others has deeply impacted another faith community and it reminds us why it’s so important to continue showing up against hate with compassion and clarity. We encourage you to check in on your Catholic neighbors, attend local gatherings if you’re able, and help ensure no community faces tragedy in isolation. Read more in ADL’s analysis here.
In this season of transition, our regional efforts are focused on sharing tools that help students, families, and educators across San Diego feel equipped and supported. Explore our Back-to-School Resource Hub, the new Family Toolkit: Safe, Seen, Included, and our Calendar of Observances. You can also review our guide on How to Advocate for Your Students at their K-12 School, and learn how to report incidents of antisemitism.
We’re also inviting emerging leaders in their 20s to 40s to apply for the Glass Leadership Institute (GLI) Class of 2025-2026. This year’s program will connect participants to a powerful local and national network committed to fighting hate for good. Apply here or nominate someone by September 15th.
Your work matters, and you are not alone. Thank you for being part of the effort to build safer, more inclusive communities across San Diego.
