SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — Major Jewish organizations reacted positively to the Gaza peace plan announced Monday by U.S. President Donald Trump and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
World Jewish Congress — Following a historic announcement by President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu of an agreed-upon path to disarm Hamas and bring the hostages home, Amb. Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, released the below statement:
“Today’s announcement at the White House represents a moment of historic consequence. The plan forged by the United States, agreed upon by Israel and shared with key international partners marks the first credible path forward toward ending the cycle of violence that has gripped the region since Hamas’s brutal terror attack on October 7.
“For the first time, there is a clear framework that ensures all hostages will be freed, Hamas will be disarmed, Gaza will be demilitarized, and Israel’s security will be preserved. Critically, it finally opens the possibility for the Palestinian people to live free of radical terrorist rule that has brought them only misery and destruction.
“This is a turning point. Peace is now within reach, but only if Hamas chooses to lay down its weapons and release the innocent men, women, and children it continues to hold.
“I applaud and thank President Trump, the Government of Israel, and the international partners involved—particularly Qatar—for their resolve and leadership. After months of unimaginable suffering, the world must unite behind this plan. The future of the region—and the chance for Israelis and Palestinians alike to live in peace and dignity—depends on it.”
B’nai B’rith International — B’nai B’rith welcomes the framework set out today by President Donald Trump during a White House news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Hamas to release the Israeli hostages it holds, and for a broader peace in the region. A new Board of Peace, an international oversight body, will help create and maintain the framework for lasting peace.
The terror group Hamas has not yet agreed to the outline.
We commend the president for clearly noting Hamas started the war in Gaza—reminding the world of the Hamas attacks against Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. Trump also noted that Israel withdrew from Gaza in exchange for the potential for peace in 2005 but Hamas diverted resources for terror infrastructure, “instead of building a better life for the Palestinian people.”
As detailed by Trump the peace plan “is focused on ending the war immediately, getting all of our hostages back…and creating conditions for Israeli security and Palestinian success.”
We fully agree that the release of the hostages must remain at the top of any framework for peace. The remaining hostages have endured two years of the most horrific conditions.
We agree with the president: “Now it’s time for Hamas to accept the terms of the plan.”
Netanyahu said that today’s plan is a “critical step” to ending the war. He commended the “practical path forward” as a new beginning for Gaza and the region.
We support the Trump-Netanyahu talk of the opportunities that lie ahead to expand peace in the region through the Abraham Accords and beyond.
We eagerly await the next steps to bring the hostages home and move forward with a stable and lasting framework for peace and security for Israel.

American Jewish Committee: We thank the Trump Administration for its sustained leadership in its effort to bring an end to this war that preserves Israel’s security and sees the return of all remaining hostages, and provides a path to long-term durable peace that sees a prosperous future for both Israelis and Palestinians.
AJC welcomes Israel’s acceptance of the U.S. plan, as well as the regional Arab and international support outlined by President Trump. The world should be united in ensuring this plan can succeed. It is now up to Hamas to put an end to this violent conflict it started on October 7th.
