SDJW staff roundup
Weeks before the Nov. 3 elections, the U.S. Department of Justice served federal Grand Jury subpoenas on relatives of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota, whom the administration of the Republican President Donald Trump suspects of immigration fraud.
It was disclosed that federal agents also seized her phone in addition to carrying out sealed boxes from the Monday morning raid on her Washington D.C. house.
On Wednesday, Omar sent out a fundraising email, which said in part: “This is part of the fascist playbook to rile up Trump’s die-hard supporters and give them a big distraction in advance of the midterms. With this obviously political investigation, Trump is telling his voters: ‘Ignore the price of gas, ignore the war om Iran, ignore that you’re losing your healthcare — we want you to get angry about this instead.”

UK’s Prime Minister Andy Burnham said that Iran was almost certainly behind a plot targeting the RAF Fairford base from which the United States flew bombing sorties over Iran earlier this year. Suspicion has fallen on Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Iran called in the British ambassador to warn that unless evidence could be presented, Iran will reconsider the status of the relations between their two countries. Seven British men — one holding joint Iranian British citizenship — have been arrested and put on police bail under strict conditions. Ken McCallum, chief of MI5, said on Tuesday Iran has been intensifying its campaign in the United Kingdom to include military bases in addition to Iranian refugees working against the ayatollahs’ regime.
