SAN DIEGO (Press Release)–The Jewish Community Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Silberman as its new Board Chair.
Jeff succeeds Emily Einhorn who led the Foundation for a two-year term and continues on the Foundation’s Board and Executive Committee. Jeff’s leadership experience spans seven years as a Foundation board member, including serving as Vice Chair and Human Resources Committee Chair. He is a past president of Congregation Beth Israel, a graduate of The Wexner Heritage Program and currently serves on the board of the Francis Parker School. Jeff is President and CEO of Carleton Management, Inc. and was formerly a managing partner at Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith.
Other officers of the Foundation include Joan Jacobs, Vice Chair; Jane Scher, Vice Chair; David Kabakoff, Treasurer; Barbara Bry, Secretary and Lawrence Sherman, General Counsel.
In addition, the Jewish Community Foundation announces the appointments of Janet Acheatel, Graeme Gabriel, Orin Green, Caryn Viterbi and Eric Weitzen to its Board of Directors. The new board members are all widely respected in the business community and have distinguished themselves as leaders in the non-profit sector. Their three-year terms began July 1, 2012.
“All of our new board members bring a wealth of talent, leadership and experience to the Foundation,” said Jeff Silberman, Foundation Board Chair.
Janet Acheatel has over thirty years of experience in the investment management and financial services industries. In 2011, she co-founded HoyleCohen’s Women’s Practice, Wealth by Design for Women℠. Janet previously worked as a portfolio manager at Brandes Investment Partners. Janet is an active member of Congregation Beth Israel in University City and serves on the Hillel of San Diego Board of Directors. At the Foundation, she has been a member of the Investment Committee.
Graeme Gabriel is president and Chief Operating Officer of ColRich, a San Diego-based home builder. Graeme serves as Board Secretary of Congregation Beth El in La Jolla. A member of the Foundation’s Finance and Systems Committee, Graeme has helped the Foundation create strategies to better connect young adults to philanthropy.
Orin Green is the Managing Director of Orin Green & Associates, a Private Wealth Advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial. He serves on the board of Chabad Hebrew Academy and the advisory board of Friendship Circle, and he was president for many years of the Chabad of University City. Orin also participates on the Foundation’s Endowment Leadership Institute – Governance Leadership Institute Committee.
Caryn Viterbi is a former San Diego County Deputy District Attorney. She has held numerous leadership positions on community boards, including the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, Anti-Defamation League Regional Advisory Board and the Jewish Federation of San Diego County. Caryn is a former chair of the Agency for Jewish Education and the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture. Caryn is also a member of the Foundation’s Endowment Leadership Institute – Governance Leadership Institute Committee.
Eric Weitzen is a Partner at Weitzen, Philips & Weinberg LLP. He has participated on a number of community boards, including the UCSD Foundation and the San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club. Eric chairs the Foundation’s Real Estate and Gift Acceptance Committee and is the former chair of the Foundation’s Professional Advisor Council.
