FIDF San Diego to honor Israel Navy Jan. 25

SAN DIEGO (Press Release)–The Friends of the IDF (FIDF) San Diego Chapter will host its 4th Annual Gala Appreciation Evening on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego. Over 650 prominent lay leaders and FIDF supporters from across the San Diego area are expected to attend the event and honor the brave members of the Israeli Navy.

The keynote speaker at the Gala will be Admiral (Ret.) Amihai “Ami” Ayalon, former Head of Shabak (Shin Bet), the Internal General Security Service of Israel, and former Commander-in-Chief of the Israeli Navy.

The event will also feature Tal Shabat, a wounded sailor from Flotilla 13; Hanna Moyal, a Lone Soldier serving in the IDF Karakal unit who is originally from San Diego; and Haim Elfasi, an FIDF IMPACT! Scholarship recipient.

Among the participants at the Gala will be FIDF National Chairman Nily Falic; FIDF National President and San Diego Chapter Chairman, Julian Josephson;  FIDF National Director and CEO, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Yitzhak (Jerry) Gershon; and Annual Gala Chair, Jenny Josephson.

“The FIDF San Diego’s 4th Annual Gala Appreciation Evening is an event that stands out in our community. It presents an opportunity for us all to honor the IDF soldiers who keep Israel safe, who stand guard day and night to protect the Jewish homeland on behalf of Jews and freedom loving people around the world,” said Julian Josephson. “This will be a unique occasion to meet the soldiers, hear firsthand about their personal and military experiences, and let them know that we are here to support them and say thank you for their hard work.”

The funds raised at this event will go toward FIDF wellbeing and educational programs for the IDF soldiers.
