ENCINITAS, California (Press Release) — This month of May marks the 25th Anniversary of the opening of Seacrest Village at Encinitas. In 1989, the Lee & Frank Goldberg Residence Court opened with 98 Independent Living apartments at the current location on Saxony Road. This was the first Independent Living community, and the first north county location, for the San Diego Hebrew Homes. Previously this non-profit retirement community was located on 54th Street, behind what was then the Jewish Community Center, a few miles from San Diego State University.
In the 1980’s the decision was made to move to North County, and a ten-acre parcel of land was purchased at 211 Saxony Road in Encinitas. This new property was named Seacrest Village, given its close proximity to the coast. Since 1989, additional care levels have been added, and the community also features assisted living, memory care and long-term nursing care. Seacrest at Home opened in 2014 and soon there will be an adult social day care center.

Further development of our Encinitas campus has allowed us to serve more seniors in a variety of ways. This journey has continued for two remarkable associates as well. Robin Israel, Vice President of Philanthropy and Melanie Hoff, Associate Director of Philanthropy were both employees of Seacrest Village in the beginning and continue to contribute to the success of our organization today.
In addition to the Encinitas campus, Seacrest Village at Rancho Bernardo, Nellie Cohn Residence is an independent living community that serves the Jewish community of inland north county.
