SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — In follow-up stories to those we’ve noted in the past, the morning U-T San Diego reported on Tuesday, May 20, that:
–The San Diego City Council decided to submit to a Charter Review Commission the question of whether voters, in the wake of Bob Filner’ resignation as mayor in a sexual harassment plea bargain, should be asked to specify that convictions involving moral turpitude are automatic grounds for removal from city office.
— The reconstituted board of the San Diego Opera, totally rejecting the recommendations of its former general director Ian Campbell to shut the opera down, has instead voted to go forward with a 3-opera season.
— California’s Fair Political Practices Commission dismissed a complaint against District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis by a supporter of her opponent Bob Brewer that she failed to report her attendance at various civic dinners. The FPPC said Dumanis correctly cited a law exempting such functions from reporting requirements.
