SAN DIEGO — Meg Mandel, president of Congregation Beth Israel, will tell the Men’s Club Dinner Forum about the year in review and look ahead into the future​ at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 16.

Mandel has been a member of Beth Israel since she and her family moved to San Diego from Iowa in 2006. Before becoming president, Meg chaired Beth Israel’s Development Committee, sat on the Executive Committee, Campaign Cabinet, Membership and Education committees. She is also a graduate of the congregation’s  Leadership Development Institute. She co-chaired the Religious School Room Parent Committee and served on the Youth Education Advisory Committee.

In addition to her involvement with Beth Israel, Mandel was on the board of her synagogue in Iowa City and has been active in the Jewish Federation for years.  She also serves on the Board of the Women’s Division of UJF, served as co-chair of the La Jolla Lunch Club.

Born in Altoona, PA, Mandel graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in American Civilization and earned an M.A.T. from Rice University. Her professional background is in college admission, education, and fundraising.  She lives in La Jolla with her husband, Jess Mandel, Associate Dean for Medical Education at UCSD School of Medicine, and their two children, Emily, 20, and Jonathan, 16.
