
HAIFA, Israel (Press Release)–Sondra Berk of San Diego, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology on June 15 for her leadership and dedication to the Technion and the San Diego community.
A natural leader and passionate advocate for the Technion, Berk is a long-time member of the American Technion Society (ATS) San Diego Chapter board and of the ATS National Board of Regents. She and her husband, Dr. Robert Berk, co-chaired a summer internship program for Technion students, and have generously supported the San Diego Chapter Student Dormitory and provided the lead gift for an Endowed Doctoral Fellowship at Technion. They most recently established the Sondra and Robert Berk Playground in the Stanley Shalom Zielony Graduate Student Village, naming the playground in honor of their grandchildren.
Deeply committed to the Jewish community in San Diego, Berk is a founding member of the Jewish Women’s Foundation of San Diego, the local JCC dating service Match Maker and the San Diego Chapter of Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. She is also involved in Congregation Beth El, the Jewish Community Foundation and Seacrest Retirement Village.
