Abrahams seeks prayers for Merry Clayton

LOS ANGELES  (SDJW) — Singer Merry Clayton, who was featured in the documentary 20 Feet From Stardom “has a long road to recovery” from a June 16 automobile accident in Los Angeles, according to manager and record producer Alan V. Abrahams.

In a note sent Wednesday, June 25, to San Diego Jewish World, he verified that “I manage Merry Clayton (merryclayton.com) the daughter of a pastor from New Orleans. We gratefully accept all prayers from all people all over the world at this critical time for our beloved Merry.”  According to Clayton’s website, she sustained serious injuries to her lower extremities.

Abrahams, who in 1961 was a Maccabiah Gold Medalist for a British x 100 team, has produced 14 Black Gospel albums that have topped the Billboard charts and also has produced over 80 other albums, including those of Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Les McCann.
