Golf, tennis raise $160k for Seacrest Villages

ENCINITAS, California (Press Release)– Guardians of San Diego’s 26th Annual Golf, Tennis & Spa Day presented by Seacrest Foundation, with presenting sponsor, The William Gumpert Foundation, raised over $160,000.  Proceeds from “Take a Swing for Seniors” held July 24th will benefit the Resident Assistance Fund of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities.

Guardians’ 2017 tennis competitors

Seacrest Foundation hosted 100 golfers and tennis players at Monday’s event at the exclusive Del Mar Country Club as well as 15 attendees at the award-winning Rancho Valencia Spa. The golf tournament began at noon with a shotgun start on the beautiful course designed by American golf architect, Joseph Lee. Tennis players competed in a “King of the Court” drill on four tennis courts identical in surface and color to the courts used at the US Open. On the course, golfers played “Best Ball Shamble,” and enjoyed ice cold refreshments all throughout the day, generously donated by Crest Beverage.

The all-day event also included a silent auction, BBQ buffet lunch, cocktail reception followed by dinner and an awards program in Del Mar’s private Club House. Hot items in the auction included golf at The Bridges, The Crosby, Hillcrest and Brentwood Country Clubs, along with a vacation in a luxury home in Palm Desert, staycations at Rancho Valencia and The Lodge at Torrey Pines, as well as date nights, beauty packages for men and women, and much more.  Golfers also had the opportunity to participate in a “Hula Hoop Challenge” with 100% of the proceeds going to Seacrest Foundation.  Each golfer donated $20 for a chance to hit a ball into one of 9 hula hoops placed at various yardages from the tee and win a selection of prizes. Jim Buck was the only player who landed in a hoop and won a gift card generously donated by Golf Mart.
