By David Amos SAN DIEGO — What a magnificent job of portraying Leonard Bernstein at the Old Globe by actor-musician Hershey Felder! I was pleased to see this one-man-show, Maestro, the Art of Leonard Bernstein on Tuesday, July 26. I have frequently written about Bernstein, and his life, which has been called “the most spectacular

By Rabbi Ben Kamin Rabbi Ben Kamin SAN DIEGO — It isn’t that one is specifically sentimental about the corporate vicissitudes of this or that major book chain, though a great many real human lives are being affected badly by the downfall of Borders Group Inc.  The closing of 400 stores is about to throw

By David Amos  SAN DIEGO — One often hears at the end of a concert or recital second guessers as to the music just performed. The Mozart Sonata was played too fast, the Chopin Adagio too slow, and so forth. We all know that it is up to the interpreter, the soloist or the conductor

By Rabbi Ben Kamin SAN DIEGO — Crowds rushing another nation’s borders with malicious intent and with screams of “Death to the Jews!” are not an echo of the Gandhi-inspired US Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s.   Firing missiles ceaselessly into Israeli towns and schoolyards from Gaza while swearing the bloody destruction of
